Abstract. Suparno A, Prabawardani S, Nisa DK, Ruimassa RR. 2023. Identification of Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi associated with Arabica coffee root (Coffea arabica) in the Arfak Mountains region West Papua, Indonesia. Biodiversitas 24: 3207-3213. Coffee is a global commodity widely consumed as beverage globally and has high economy. Currently, trend drinking no longer dominated by older people but become part millennial celebrity lifestyle; therefore, worldwide demand for continues to increase. Efforts develop area expansion productivity continue be pursued. The Region located 800 - 2,500 m above sea level (masl), potential plantations. local farmers this have grown independently gradual government support last years. Given benefits (AMF), which can increase plant growth productivity, study aims identify types AMF that are plants 4 districts, Mokwam, Anggi Giji, Gida, Membey region, Papua. was observed based on morphology mycorrhizal spores. research conducted using observation method purposive sampling technique from November 2022 March Based observation, districts were AMF. Mokwam more numerous than other locations, namely Acaulosporaceae Genus five species, Glomeaceae one species Simiglomus sensu stricto, Funneliformis Septoglomus stricto. Giji District consisted two four while Gida three From soil analysis results, fertility low; conversely, presence higher because infertile soil, active mycorrhiza.

Equine poisoning by coffee husk (Coffea arabica L.)

BACKGROUND In Brazil, coffee (Coffea arabica) husks are reused in several ways due to their abundance, including as stall bedding. However, field veterinarians have reported that horses become intoxicated after ingesting the coffee husks that are used as bedding. The objective of this study was to evaluate whether coffee husk consumption causes intoxication in horses. RESULTS Six horses fed c...

Proteolytic activities of bacteria, yeasts and filamentous fungi isolated from coffee fruit (Coffea arabica L.)

One hundred forty-four microorganisms previously isolated from coffee fruit (Coffea arabica) were grown on casein agar to evaluate their proteolytic activities. Fifty percent of filamentous fungi, 52.5% of bacteria and 2.6% of yeasts were able to secrete proteases. Positive isolates were further examined in liquid culture for their protease activities by hydrolysis of casein at different pH val...

Ochratoxigenic fungi associated with green coffee beans (Coffea arabica L.) in conventional and organic cultivation in Brazil

The genera Aspergillus comprises species that produce mycotoxins such as aflatoxins, ochratoxins and patulin. These are cosmopolitan species, natural contaminants of agricultural products. In coffee grains, the most important Aspergillus species in terms of the risk of presenting mycotoxins belong to the genera Aspergillus Section Circumdati and Section Nigri. The purpose of this study was to a...

Genetic Diversity of Arabica Coffee (Coffea arabica L.) in Nicaragua as Estimated by Simple Sequence Repeat Markers

Coffea arabica L. (arabica coffee), the only tetraploid species in the genus Coffea, represents the majority of the world's coffee production and has a significant contribution to Nicaragua's economy. The present paper was conducted to determine the genetic diversity of arabica coffee in Nicaragua for its conservation and breeding values. Twenty-six populations that represent eight varieties in...

The Impact of Climate Change on Indigenous Arabica Coffee (Coffea arabica): Predicting Future Trends and Identifying Priorities

Precise modelling of the influence of climate change on Arabica coffee is limited; there are no data available for indigenous populations of this species. In this study we model the present and future predicted distribution of indigenous Arabica, and identify priorities in order to facilitate appropriate decision making for conservation, monitoring and future research. Using distribution data w...
